Stacked Skincare is a startup driven by the belief that a facial glow starts with saying goodbye to skin issues. Founder Kerry Benjamin asked me to create a line of proprietary skincare tools and a design language that reflected her brand’s premium values. It was important to create a product what was not a direct reference to shaving the face, a predominantly male practice. Through user observation and expert interviews I distilled insights into highly crafted beauty tools: perfectly balanced recyclable aluminum handle, an intuitive replaceable head system, safety covers that protect the product and the user during transport. Her customers are thrilled and so is she, having already won numerous awards and accolades in the discriminating beauty press while earning back her capital investment in only 8 months.
Start with a pure rectangle. Remove one corner as a diagonal. The “difference” in that corner becomes the focus of the tool and the ergonomic angle that makes it highly effective. Big idea with a simple message creates designs that are timeless.
We extended the product line with the Touch Up Blade which uses the same handle but helps users access hard to reach places on the face more easily.
